Hunting for Tatler Treasure…

treasurehuntlandscape

Last year, Tatler – one of the UK’s most prestigious fashion titles – teamed up with charity Cancer Research UK to sell some prized designer possessions in it’s stores for bargain prices. I know, we’re upset we missed out too. But, the initiative is back for spring and on Monday, 59 designer items went on sale across the country. Here’s the tricky bit – neither company is letting on where they are though. So the hunt (and race) is on; these items are sure to fly as soon as any lucky customers stumble upon them in store!

The Clothes Line loves this idea, raising the standard of donations to charity shops to get the best possible price is exactly the sort of thing we do too. We get amazing designer pieces donated to us on a regular basis, and send them out to our shops across the country. The only difference being; we have far less shops stocking The Clothes Line product (six to be precise), so your chances are far higher at finding a designer gem. Plus, we let you know as much as we can where these items will be heading! So there’s really no excuse – get down to your nearest Blue Cross shop now!

Topshop X Adidas Originals

A Topshop collaboration with Adidas? Yes, you heard right! The ahead-of-trend high street retailer will be teaming up with Adidas Originals to create a 20 piece collection that will launch in store on 20th March. The collection will see Topshop re-create pieces from the Adidas Originals archives, into completely wearable and affordable sportswear.

This is definitely the answer to all those impossibly expensive sports-luxe pieces (ahem, Chanel Couture) we’ve seen all over the runways for SS14; particularly as it ranges in price from just £25 to £90. Whatever happens, you need to get your hands on a piece of this collection, even if it never goes near a gym (we won’t tell).

Let the fashion circus commence…

Tomorrow marks the beginning of fashion month, kicking off in New York with Mercedes-Benz fashion Week. This will see editors, stylists, buyers, bloggers and celebrities (otherwise known as the ‘fashion circus’) pack their bags and visit the most prominent four cities in fashion over the next four weeks. From New York they’ll head to our very own London, for the best of British fashion on the 14th, then on to Milan and finally Paris, taking us into March.

While everyone who’s anyone at Fashion Week will be wearing ready-to-wear styles from last September’s runways (that’s SS14, if you don’t know), we’re only just about getting to terms with having to swap our winter wardrobes for spring, despite it still feeling like mid-winter. The Clothes Line will be at Vodafone’s London Fashion Week on Friday 14th February (who needs a man when you’ve got Fashion Week?), and we’ll be keeping you updated with all the best street-style we’ve snapped on the day; and with the fash-pack out in force – you’re sure to find some ultra stylish inspiration!

Happy Birthday to the Queen!

Kate Moss turns 40 today, and the woman is still just about the coolest thing since sliced bread – in the fashion world and out of it.

Here’s a quick look at the icon starting out fresh faced in 1990 on the July cover of The Face magazine at just 16, famously shot by photographer Corinne Day for ‘The Daisy Age’ of the 3rd Summer Of Love…

And here she is today; recently shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for the iconic Playboy magazine for their 60th anniversary issue, which was released in December. It was only natural that this supermodel was chosen to represent 60 years of the brand in an 18 page, artful, semi-nude feature.

Happy Birthday Queen K, and we hope you’ve got a few more years left in you yet!

Golden Globes 2014

So award season begins and it kicked off last night with the Golden Globes, with every A-lister vying to mark their fashionable territory for the season on this years Red Carpet. Emma Watson is one actress that needn’t worry about her fashion credentials though, as she proved last night that she will very much be staying at the top of this year’s best dressed lists, thanks to her show stopping Dior Couture number.

Who said florals are for summer?

Florals are so typically associated with Spring and Summer, for obvious reasons, and they look great every year in the garden or by the beach. But who says you have to follow the rule book? So many designers recreate their florals for Winter, with huge success. Erdem is widely renowned for digital floral prints come rain or shine, but this season, florals are everywhere.
